AMD is set to release the Instinct MI400 APU in 2026, aimed at improving AI, HPC, and compute efficiency. The new design includes two AIDs with eight XCDs, which doubles the density of the previous MI300. A significant addition is the Multimedia IO Die, which offloads IO tasks and potentially integrates Xilinx FPGA technology. The MI400 is expected to enhance compute density, power efficiency, and scalability, potentially playing a role in future supercomputing projects. While official details are yet to be released, the MI400 series is anticipated to launch following the MI350 series.
