Security researcher Paul Butler claims to have discovered a method to conceal hidden messages within emojis and other Unicode characters using variation selectors. By chaining these selectors, one can encode invisible information without altering the visible appearance. While this technique may not be used for malware, it could have applications in watermarking or bypassing human moderation. This method could enable authors to track their work online and potentially lead to the development of automated detection tools to counteract misuse. Although intriguing, it is currently deemed unlikely for malicious purposes.
