Researchers have identified North Korean threat actors continuing their fake job scams, introducing new malware variants like OtterCookie. The campaign known as “Contagious Interview” targets individuals in sectors such as aerospace, defense, and government. Operated by Lazarus Group, the attackers deploy malware for reconnaissance, data theft, and clipboard poisoning, focusing on web3 businesses and cryptocurrency theft. These cybercriminals are notorious for running lucrative fake job schemes and targeting software developers to steal sensitive information.
