Google and Microsoft aren’t syncing up: why Phone Link might no longer show you sensitive notifications after installing Android 15

Android 15 updates have caused sensitive notifications to be redacted by “untrusted” apps, impacting Phone Link for some users like Google Pixel and Sony Xperia users. This change may affect the visibility of notifications on Windows 11’s Phone Link feature. Despite this, essential functions like calls and messages still work, while manual checks are required for sensitive alerts.
Google’s privacy rule introduced in October 2024 hides sensitive notifications, including 2FA codes and banking alerts, labeling some apps as “untrusted.” Users must now manually check certain notifications due to this change. While this affects devices like Google Pixel and Sony Xperia, Samsung Galaxy AI devices remain unaffected. It’s unclear if Google will address this in future updates, leaving users to adapt or provide feedback on the change. Windows 11 users may wish for a solution or anticipate improvements in the future.
