Title: Docker Desktop Users on Mac Facing False Malware Alert
Docker Desktop users on Mac are encountering difficulties in opening their application due to a false malware alert displayed upon startup. The pop-up warning, stating that “com.docker.vmnetd was not opened because it contains malware,” has been identified as a false alarm by Senior Principal Engineer Christian Dupuis.
According to reports on GitHub, the issue stems from incorrectly signed files within existing installations. Docker has acknowledged the problem and is working on a fix to address the issue. Users are advised to update to version 4.37.2 to prevent any further disruptions caused by the false malware warning.
For users encountering the error on versions between 4.32 and 4.36, a separate patch is available. Fortunately, versions 4.28 and earlier remain unaffected by this particular issue. Director of Engineering Chris Crone assures users that the Docker team is actively working towards a permanent solution but offers a temporary workaround for affected users.
In the meantime, it is recommended to update to the latest version of Docker Desktop to ensure smooth functionality and prevent any future interruptions. Stay tuned for further updates as the Docker team continues to prioritize the resolution of this issue.
