WhatsApp is testing a new design that prominently features AI in the messaging app, aiming to make AI tools more visible and user-friendly. The new look includes an AI tab showcasing features like chatting with “Popular AI characters,” organized bots, AI-generated stickers and images, and a Meta AI-powered search engine. This redesign also integrates custom AI bot creation within WhatsApp, aligning with Meta’s broader strategy of embedding AI across its platforms.

The changes, which include merging the Communities tab into the Chats tab, reflect Meta’s push towards AI integration and the promotion of the Meta AI assistant. While this shift may deviate from WhatsApp’s simplicity, it could attract users to engage more with AI features. The potential revamp does not have a specific release date yet, but beta-testing hints at a rollout in the coming months. If successful, the AI-focused WhatsApp could lead the way for AI integration across Meta’s ecosystem.
