UK Government to trial AI projects in bakeries, farms, and more

The UK Government has allocated £7 million for AI projects as part of the AI Opportunities Plan. 120 projects will receive funding to develop AI tools aimed at enhancing productivity and efficiency for small businesses. The move is intended to stimulate growth by promoting the adoption of AI technology. Among the initiatives funded are tools to predict bakery sales and reduce food waste, as well as to forecast potholes and optimize dairy cow yields. Despite the cancellation of larger AI investment plans, officials express confidence in the transformative potential of the current funding. Science and Technology Secretary Peter Kyle highlights the diverse benefits of AI applications and emphasizes the opportunities for national development through the deployment of AI.
