Amazon’s recent Fire TV software update has disappointed users by removing a popular feature – the ability to hide unwanted apps on the homescreen. This change affects first-gen and second-gen Fire TV Stick users along with other devices, leaving them stuck with a cluttered grid of apps that cannot be removed. The removal of this option has also caused apps from different user profiles to appear across all profiles on the Fire TV device. Frustrated users have found a workaround using a third-party app called atvTools, which allows them to hide unwanted apps, albeit in a more complex manner than before. Amazon’s track record of removing features or altering functionality in updates has irked Fire TV Stick owners in the past. If you’re considering alternatives, the Nvidia Shield TV Pro offers cutting-edge AI upscaling, HDR10 and Dolby Vision support, and access to Nvidia’s game-streaming service, GeForce Now.
