Google has updated its Gemini feature to allow access to extensions from your phone’s lock screen. This new AI update enables Android users to utilize Gemini extensions without unlocking their devices, by using voice commands like ‘Hey Google’ or device-specific AI activations. Tasks such as setting reminders or checking locations can now be accomplished hands-free. However, sensitive information like calendars or emails cannot be accessed without unlocking the device for added security. To activate Gemini on the lock screen, users can enable the feature in the Gemini app settings. Additionally, permissions for making calls and sending messages without unlocking the device can be granted by connecting calling and messaging apps with the AI.
