85% of UK employers admit to spying on their employees – and workers aren’t happy

In the UK, a recent study by ExpressVPN, a leading VPN provider, has revealed a growing trend of companies actively monitoring their employees. Over 85% of employers admitted to utilizing online surveillance tools, such as bossware, to track employees’ activities, websites visited, apps used, and even keystrokes. This has raised concerns among British workers, with 79% calling for better government regulations on bossware technologies. The research also highlighted that nearly half of employees believe online monitoring is unethical, leading to increased stress and anxiety levels. Privacy Advocate Lauren Hendry Parsons emphasized the importance of finding a balance between productivity and respecting employees’ privacy to avoid creating a toxic work environment.
