Microsoft has exciting news for PlayStation 5 gamers, as they are bringing two beloved titles from their Age of Empires series to the platform this year. Age of Mythology: Retold, along with its new expansion Immortal Pillars, is set to launch on March 4, offering players a real-time strategy experience. Additionally, Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition is expected to make its debut on PS5 this Spring, featuring all three downloadable content packs and a new expansion packed with fresh content for players to enjoy.

The move to expand to PlayStation marks Microsoft’s efforts to make their games more accessible across multiple platforms, fostering a stronger sense of community among players. Michael Mann, the head of Xbox’s World’s Edge studio, highlighted the importance of this cross-platform approach in a recent blog post, emphasizing the goal of uniting Age fans worldwide. This year will also see the release of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle on PS5, following its initial launch on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.

Furthermore, Microsoft’s announcement that Forza Horizon 5 will be coming to PS5 with full cross-play support later this year reflects their commitment to making their games available to a wider audience. The possibility of a Starfield PS5 release has also been hinted at by Phil Spencer, sparking excitement among gamers for potential future exclusive titles coming to the platform. Additionally, insights from ex-PlayStation boss Shawn Layden suggest that a fully disc-less PS6 might face challenges, echoing the belief that physical media remains an important aspect of gaming for many players.
