Security researchers have reportedly found a sizable database containing over 3 million records linked to Builder.ai, a platform specializing in low code/no code solutions. Allegations suggest that Builder.ai may have inadvertently exposed sensitive data of millions of users. The database, identified by security researcher Jeremiah Fowler, includes a wide array of information such as cost proposals, NDA agreements, invoices, tax documents, and more. Of particular concern are two documents containing access and configuration details for cloud storage databases, including secret access keys that could potentially lead to the exposure of additional sensitive data. Despite Fowler alerting Builder.ai to the issue, the database remained unsecured due to apparent “complexities with dependent systems.” Misconfigured databases are highlighted as a leading cause of data breaches, with experts warning about potential risks arising from organizations’ lack of understanding regarding cloud service security models. The exposure of such data could leave organizations vulnerable to cyber threats like phishing attacks, identity theft, and wire fraud.
