Amazon Web Services (AWS) has revealed a massive $11 billion investment plan aimed at expanding its cloud computing and AI infrastructure in Georgia. The company’s move is in response to the growing demand for compute power driven by the rise of artificial intelligence technologies. AWS is set to create at least 550 high-skilled job opportunities as a result of this funding, with Butts and Douglas counties being the primary beneficiaries. This investment aligns with Amazon’s commitment to advancing technology landscapes, with Georgia already receiving substantial funding from the company in the past. AWS’s Vice President of Economic Development, Roger Wehner, expressed enthusiasm about strengthening the partnership with Georgia, while Douglas County Commission Chairwoman Dr. Romona Jackson Jones welcomed the arrival of AWS and the influx of high-paying tech jobs to the region.
