AMD in 2024: year in review

In 2024, AMD had a mix of highs and lows across its CPU and GPU divisions. The year started with the launch of the Ryzen 9000 CPUs, which faced criticism for not meeting gaming performance expectations. However, AMD swiftly introduced the Ryzen 9800X3D, which was hailed as a top gaming CPU release of the year. On the GPU front, AMD expanded the RDNA 3 series but faced disappointment with the lack of new budget offerings and the absence of RDNA 4. The release of the RX 7900 Golden Rabbit Edition was a standout success. In the AI space, AMD introduced the Ryzen AI 300 processors to compete with Qualcomm, providing strong AI and gaming performance. While facing challenges like layoffs and market shifts towards AI, AMD continued to push innovation in the CPU and GPU markets.
