AMD is gearing up to launch the next-gen GPUs RX 9070 XT and RX 9070, which were previously speculated to be part of the RX 8000 series. The performance of these new GPUs is expected to be slightly slower than initially rumored. The RX 9070 XT is anticipated to be the top RDNA 4 GPU, possibly debuting alongside the lower-tier RX 9070. The speculated price ranges for these GPUs fall between $449 to $649 for the RX 9070 XT and $550 to $600 for the RX 9070. Reports suggest that AMD may also introduce mobile variants and new GPUs for the RDNA 3 range.

There has been a lot of buzz around these upcoming GPUs, with a late name change from the RX 8000 series to the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070. The adjustment in naming might be a strategic move to position the GPUs against Nvidia’s offerings. Additionally, there are rumors hinting at AMD transitioning away from the RDNA brand after this generation and potentially embracing a new UDNA architecture.

Despite some disappointment regarding the expected performance levels of the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 compared to earlier speculations, there are promising rumors about significant improvements in ray-tracing capabilities. The overall shift and developments in AMD’s GPU roadmap are anticipated to bring exciting advancements in the gaming landscape.
