Apple is reportedly working on a new version of the Magic Mouse that could potentially resolve a major design flaw – its inability to be used while charging, which has been a long-standing issue dubbed the ‘inverted turtle’ problem. The current Magic Mouse, released in 2009, has faced criticism for its poor ergonomics and the impracticality of its bottom-mounted charging port. Apple is said to be exploring various prototypes for the next Magic Mouse, aiming to reposition the charging port for usability while charging.
However, the anticipated release of the new mouse is expected to be around 12 to 18 months away, as finalizing the design and bringing it to market involves coordination between Apple’s different teams. In the meantime, alternatives like the Logitech G Pro Superlight 2 or the Kensington Pro Fit Ergo TB550 mouse, which can be used while charging, are available options for users.
In addition to the Magic Mouse update, Apple is also working on enhancing its AirTags and Apple Watches. The next-gen AirTags may feature improved security measures to prevent misuse and an extended range for better tracking capabilities. On the other hand, the upcoming Apple Watch models could introduce blood pressure monitoring and satellite texting functionalities. Fans can expect announcements for the updated AirTags and Apple Watches in the year 2025.
