A security breach has been reported by experts regarding a GPS tracking device manufacturer, AngelSense, which caters to individuals with special needs like autism or dementia. The company’s unprotected database was discovered by cybersecurity researchers UpGuard, exposing sensitive information like names, addresses, phone numbers, and even health details of AngelSense customers. The breach also revealed email addresses, passwords, and partial credit card information stored in plaintext. While the database has now been secured, the duration of exposure remains uncertain. AngelSense CEO acknowledged the problem, emphasizing prompt action post-discovery to address the vulnerability. The incident serves as a reminder of the common data leak risks associated with unprotected databases.
