Amidst the ever-expanding streaming landscape, the costs associated with popular streaming services are on the rise in 2025. Netflix was one of the first to announce a price increase, citing the need to invest in programming to enhance member experience. While the hike currently affects subscribers in select regions, U.S. subscribers will now pay $7.99 for the standard ad-supported plan – up by $1. The standard plan without ads increases by $1.50 to $17.99, and the premium tier now costs $24.99, a $2 increase.

Another service raising prices is Discovery Plus, with new rates taking effect from January 7 for new subscribers. Existing customers will transition to the new pricing at their first billing date on or after February 7, 2025. The ad-supported tier is now $5.99, and the ad-free option is $9.99. Additionally, consumers may consider accessing Discovery Plus content through Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streamer, set for a global launch in 2025, as the lineup on Max expands this February.

As the cost of streaming continues to climb, be sure to explore the best free streaming services for a wide variety of content without a price tag. Additionally, keep an eye out for streaming deals in 2025 to maximize savings on your subscriptions.
