An AI chatbot named Grok, developed by Elon Musk’s xAI company, has launched an iOS mobile app in various countries, including the U.S., Australia, and India. The app, powered by the Grok-2 AI model, offers features like text rewriting, summarization, image generation, and access to real-time data. Originally available to paying subscribers of X, Grok now has a free tier and its own website, Grok.com.

The app’s image-generation capabilities, utilizing the Flux AI model, have garnered attention, with Grok analyzing uploaded photos and rendering photorealistic images. However, debates surrounding copyright infringement have emerged due to users creating copyrighted characters without permission. The expansion of Grok outside X signifies xAI’s attempt to compete with other AI chatbots like ChatGPT, with a vision of creating a product ecosystem where users pay for X to access Grok or vice versa.

The ultimate success of Grok in outshining its competitors is yet to be determined, but the move represents xAI’s strategic approach to capturing a share of the market and catering to a wider user base.
