Hyperkin unveiled The Competitor Xbox controller at CES 2025, joining the world of third-party gaming controllers. The design bears a striking resemblance to the popular DualSense Wireless Controller from PlayStation, featuring a symmetrical thumbstick layout rarely seen on Xbox devices. What sets The Competitor apart is its Hall effect sticks, offering improved resistance to stick drift compared to traditional controllers.

The controller is expected to release in two color options: white-on-black and fully black, with added features like two remappable buttons and a mic mute button for convenience. While the pricing and exact launch date for The Competitor are yet to be disclosed, Hyperkin is known for offering affordable options such as the Xenon controller, which retailed for $49.99 / £34.99. Priced competitively, it is anticipated that The Competitor will fall within an accessible price range, possibly under $100 / £100.

In other gaming news, a new collaboration brings the iconic Squid Game red light, green light experience to Call of Duty. Moreover, Implicit Conversions, the studio behind PlayStation Classics ports, seems to be exploring PS3 emulation.
