Netflix has made the decision to cancel its dark fantasy series “The Sandman” after its upcoming second season. The show’s creator, Neil Gaiman, has faced ongoing accusations of sexual misconduct, which may have played a role in the cancellation. Showrunner Allan Heinberg explained that there was only enough story for one more season and expressed gratitude to Netflix for the opportunity to create a faithful adaptation. “The Sandman” follows the story of Dream/Morpheus and his quest for lost objects of power after escaping imprisonment. The cancellation follows the axing of the spin-off “Dead Boy Detectives” last year, despite fan campaigns for its return.
