Meta has ceased all software updates for the Oculus Quest, indicating a lifespan of approximately six years for Quest headsets, with Quest 2 losing support in 2026. Meta’s CTO suggested that the Meta Quest 2 might be supported until 2028. The original Oculus Quest has reached the end of its life cycle, with discontinued support for new apps and updates, raising concerns about security. The Quest 2, originally discontinued last year, may still receive support until 2027 or potentially even 2028, with the possibility of extended support for up to eight years. Meta is speculated to introduce new VR headsets in the future, but official announcements are awaited.
