Microsoft One Drive for Business might not be storing your data as securely as you might hope

Security concerns have been raised as expert Brian Maloney points out that Microsoft’s OneDrive for Business stores OCR and image recognition data insecurely on users’ devices, potentially putting companies at risk of data leaks. Maloney highlighted that the data is stored in unsecured databases on users’ PCs, making it vulnerable to data exfiltration. The issue is amplified with the rise of hybrid working, where more employees are accessing their business accounts from personal devices lacking strong security measures. While Microsoft has not responded to inquiries about the lack of protection for OCR databases, users are advised to only enable necessary features and remain vigilant against cyber threats.
