Microsoft recently announced a significant investment of $3 billion in India aimed at boosting the country’s cloud and AI infrastructure. This move is part of the company’s commitment to support India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. CEO Satya Nadella shared that the investment will be spread over the next two years and will focus on upskilling 10 million citizens by 2030.
Additionally, Microsoft is set to open a new data center in India by 2026 and has an initiative, ADVANTA(I)GE India, to upskill two million citizens with AI skills by 2025. The company also plans to support startups and entrepreneurs by partnering with SaaSBoomi to provide workshops and job opportunities for 5,000 startups and 10,000 entrepreneurs.
In response to the investment, Minister of State Jayant Chaudhary emphasized the importance of collaborations with global leaders like Microsoft to equip the Indian workforce with advanced skills for digital leadership and sustainable economic growth. Microsoft India President Puneet Chandok highlighted that the investment reflects the company’s belief in India’s potential to excel in the global marketplace.
