Microsoft’s Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program will offer critical security updates for devices running Windows 10 22H2, starting in November 2025. Users can enroll for $61 per device annually, with prices doubling each subsequent year. The ESU membership will last for three years, providing a secure usage period before transitioning to Windows 11 becomes necessary. Microsoft encourages upgrading to Windows 11 for the best computing experience. Surprisingly, despite efforts to migrate to Windows 11, Windows 10 still remains popular among users, representing 60% of all Windows installs. Windows 11 has only reached a 37% market share. Windows 10 virtual machines on Windows 365 or Azure Virtual Desktop will receive Extended Security Updates for free.
