Mizuno USA says hackers were able to breach networks, steal data for months

Mizuno USA has disclosed a recent cyberattack, revealing that sensitive customer data was compromised. Following the cyber incident, Mizuno filed a detailed report with the Maine Attorney General, sharing that unauthorized access to the network occurred between August and October 2024. The data breach included theft of personal information such as names, Social Security numbers, financial details, driver’s license info, and passport numbers. Although the exact number of affected individuals remains undisclosed, Mizuno has committed to offering free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services for one year. The cyber threat group BianLian claimed responsibility for the attack, stating they exfiltrated various data including financial records, contracts, and personal information. Mizuno USA, a subsidiary of the Japanese sports equipment company Mizuno Corporation, specializes in sports gear for baseball, golf, running, volleyball, and softball, with the USA branch contributing around $224 million to the company’s global revenue of approximately $1.5 billion.
