Netflix recently announced an increase in prices for all three of its subscription plans, with the cheapest plan now starting at $7.99 a month and the most expensive plan at $24.99 in the US. The streaming service justified the price hike as necessary to continue investing in programming and providing more value to its members. The price increases are effective immediately in the US, Canada, Portugal, and Argentina.

Netflix’s subscriber numbers continue to grow, with 18.9 million new subscribers added in the fourth quarter of 2024, bringing the total to 302 million paid subscribers worldwide. In addition to the price changes, Netflix is introducing a new plan called Extra Member with Ads, allowing users to add a member from a different address to the plan for a fee not yet disclosed.

While these price adjustments are already in place for some regions, it is not clear if they will apply to other areas like the UK or Australia. Despite the increase, Netflix has stated that there are no planned changes to its features. Stay tuned for any further updates on this developing story.
