Nintendo has officially announced the discontinuation of its eShop Gold Points rewards scheme, starting on March 24, 2025. After this date, users will no longer be able to earn Gold Points for digital or physical game purchases on Nintendo eShop. However, all existing Gold Points can still be redeemed for up to 12 months after issuance. This change comes just ahead of the scheduled Nintendo Switch 2 Direct event on April 2. While Nintendo has not revealed a replacement rewards system yet, speculation is rising about potential developments with the launch of the new console later this year. Gold Points have been a popular way for players to save money on eShop purchases and their future remains uncertain. Stay tuned for updates on any upcoming changes to Nintendo’s rewards program alongside the highly anticipated release of the Nintendo Switch 2.
