Nvidia’s latest graphics driver update for the RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs has been causing issues such as games crashing and GPUs not being recognized by PCs. While there were rumors of potential cable melting issues, these reports were deemed inaccurate. However, there have been fresh reports of the RTX 5090 GPUs failing to work properly, with claims of some cards being bricked. The problem may be related to PCIe 5.0 compatibility.
Reports of these issues have mainly surfaced in Asia, with some Nvidia graphics card owners experiencing difficulties. Some users have suggested switching to PCIe 4.0 in the BIOS as a temporary solution, although this hasn’t worked for everyone. Nvidia is investigating these issues, and given the limited availability of RTX 5090 cards, widespread reporting of the problems is not expected. Nvidia has been reached out to for clarification on the matter.
In addition, Nvidia’s RTX 5080 GPUs are not affected by these reported issues. As the situation continues to evolve, updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
