Philips has recently unveiled its new range of soundbars, aiming to address key practical issues often overlooked by other top soundbar models. The flagship model, the Philips B8500, stands out for its support of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, offering a 5.1-channel soundbar with an eight-inch subwoofer. It aims to enhance the sound quality of mid-range TVs, specifically designed to fit seamlessly with certain Philips TV models or TVs with central stands. Additionally, it features 4K 120Hz HDMI passthrough for a complete gaming experience.
The Philips B8500 lacks dedicated upfiring speakers for Dolby Atmos effects, which may be a drawback depending on its pricing, yet to be disclosed. Scheduled for a September 2025 release, it offers a promising solution for TV sound enhancement.
The Philips B8200, another model in their lineup, offers a super-slim design and also caters to TVs with central stands with a sleek appearance and a super-long subwoofer. Launching in August 2025, this 2.1-channel soundbar may appeal to those seeking a minimalist approach to home entertainment.
Lastly, the Philips B6100 is designed to be less wide, fitting between TV feet, and features a 2.1-channel system with a dedicated subwoofer. Set to be available in May 2025, this model aims to provide a space-saving solution for soundbar enthusiasts.
All models come equipped with Bluetooth audio streaming capabilities, including Bluetooth LE Audio support, offering users a future-proof feature. The success of these soundbars will hinge on their pricing and audio quality, emphasizing Philips’ dedication to solving practical design challenges in the soundbar market. While confirmed for release in the UK and Europe, Philips’ plans for a US release are yet to be announced.
