Report from cybersecurity company Netskope indicates a threefold surge in the number of individuals falling victim to phishing attacks in 2024. The rise in successful phishing attempts is attributed to a combination of cognitive fatigue among users and the sophisticated tactics employed by threat actors. Cloud apps have emerged as prime targets, with Microsoft’s platforms being particularly popular among cybercriminals. Netskope advises a shift in phishing awareness training to encompass various channels beyond just emails, as threat actors are now exploiting search engines and other websites to distribute malicious links.
