PlayStation Classics port studio Implicit Conversions appears to be researching PS3 emulation

Retro game port developer Implicit Conversions is exploring the possibility of implementing proper PS3 emulation for the PlayStation Classics collection on PS5. This information comes from the developer’s roadmap, which was discovered on a gaming forum. The roadmap includes a section labeled ‘Dreaming About’ where there is a card indicating research and prototyping for a PlayStation 3 emulator package. Currently, PS3 games can only be played on PS5 through cloud streaming, leading to suboptimal experiences, particularly for users with slow internet connections. While PS3 games have not yet been natively supported on PS5 like PS4 and older generation games, the roadmap suggests that there is interest in eventually providing this support. However, it is important to note that PS3 emulation for PS5 is not actively in progress, and it may take some years before this becomes a reality. Still, the fact that it is being considered is a positive sign for gamers hoping to revisit classic PS3 titles on modern hardware.
