New research by Telehouse reveals a lack of awareness among Brits about data centers, with over half of the population unfamiliar with the term. Even those who are aware of data centers often do not understand their role in artificial intelligence and cloud computing. This lack of knowledge poses challenges for the UK’s ambitions to lead in AI, despite recent efforts to prioritize data centers as Critical National Infrastructure. An initiative approved by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner to invest £670 million in a data center project highlights the government’s increasing focus on digital infrastructure. Education on data centers is seen as crucial to boosting public trust in digital technologies and bridging the knowledge gap.
