Nvidia continues to reign in the realm of AI chips by procuring millions of HBM units from Samsung in 2026. Google emerges as a formidable competitor for HBM, closely trailing Nvidia. Meanwhile, companies like Amazon, AMD, and Microsoft strive to secure their share in the HBM market as Intel somewhat diminishes in this arena.

High-bandwidth memory plays a crucial role in AI and cloud computing, offering rapid data transfer for complex tasks. Industry giants such as Nvidia, Google, Amazon, and Microsoft heavily invest in HBM, with Samsung standing as a key supplier in this domain. Nvidia foresees a significant surge in demand for HBM, fueled by its expanding AI accelerators lineup. Google follows suit in HBM procurement due to its investments in Tensor Processing Units. Amazon, AMD, and Microsoft also amp up their demand for HBM as they delve deeper into chip development.

While AMD poses as Nvidia’s closest rival in the HBM realm, it lags behind in projected demand. Microsoft, on the other hand, remains a minor player in HBM utilization. Intel faces challenges in competing, with its chip demand potentially declining. These figures primarily account for HBM supplied by Samsung, and incorporating data from other suppliers could yield a different outlook while Nvidia maintains its predominant position as the leading HBM purchaser.
