Samsung is discontinuing support for its native app Samsung Messages on the latest Galaxy S25 series, instead opting for Google Messages as the default messaging app. This change means that users of the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra will no longer have access to Samsung Messages and will have to use Google Messages exclusively. While older Galaxy models with Samsung Messages already installed can still use the app, concerns have been raised about the lack of future updates and support for it. Samsung’s decision to switch to Google Messages is based on the enhanced RCS functionality and aims to provide a better messaging experience for users. Despite backlash from some loyal Galaxy fans, the transition to Google Messages seems irreversible as it will come pre-installed on future Samsung phones.
