Fashion designer Maximilian Raynor has created a groundbreaking dress called the “Internet Dress,” a fusion of human and robotic elements. Made from 12,000 feet of repurposed fiber optic cable, weighing 50 pounds, this unique garment symbolizes the physical form of the internet. Created in collaboration with web hosting firm Equinix, the dress, codenamed ProjectMax, was unveiled ahead of London Fashion Week, showcasing an intricate and futuristic design. Raynor, known for creating avant-garde pieces for celebrities, described the dress as a representation of the internet itself, blending robot and human qualities. Incorporating metal nuts and bolts from Equinix’s data centers worldwide, the dress took 640 hours to weave together but is not for sale and will not be reproduced. Equinix’s EMEA president highlighted the dress’s purpose of bridging the physical and virtual worlds to emphasize the essential connections that support economies and societies daily.
