Tesla’s Supercharger network gets faster charging speeds in the US, but not all owners are happy about it

Tesla has recently upgraded its Supercharger stations in North America to deliver charging speeds of up to 325kW, in line with other high-powered charging networks. This enhancement is primarily beneficial for the Cybertruck, as it is the only Tesla model capable of utilizing this high-speed charging rate, leaving other models limited to 250kW. Despite the upgrade, there remains confusion surrounding the capabilities of Tesla’s Supercharger network, which comprises a mix of V2 and V4 stalls.
Furthermore, Tesla is set to introduce V4 Supercharger stalls capable of reaching 500kW, even though no electric vehicle currently on the market can achieve such charging speeds. The increase in charging capabilities signifies Tesla’s attempt to keep pace with competitor charging standards and future-proof its network. However, given the slow rollout and minimal integration of the Cybertruck’s advanced 800V system into other models, the impact of these upgrades for Tesla owners is yet to be fully realized.
In conclusion, while the faster Supercharger stalls mark a step forward for Tesla’s charging infrastructure, there are limitations for most Tesla models, highlighting the need for the brand to align with evolving industry standards and meet the charging demands of a broader range of electric vehicles.
