The latest update for Nvidia Shield TV, version 9.2, brings exciting new features including support for Auro-3D, a 3D audio format comparable to Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. This update also includes enhancements such as parental controls in French, improved security for 4K DRM playback, and various bug fixes for audio and video playback issues. However, there is no news yet on a new Shield TV model being released. Despite the aging hardware, Nvidia’s Shield TV remains a top choice for streaming, offering a plethora of apps and services, including the GeForce Now streaming platform. With increasing competition in the streaming device market and rumors of potential competitors, the question arises whether Nvidia will launch a new hardware version soon. Our Managing Editor, Matt Hanson, continues to press Nvidia for updates, hinting at a possible new model on the horizon. Stay tuned for more developments.
