AMD has revealed a new processor, the Ryzen 5 9600, during CES 2025. This CPU is a slightly slower variant of the existing Ryzen 5 9600X with a reduced boost speed by 200MHz. Despite the lack of an official launch price, it is expected to be more affordable.
The Ryzen 9600 is essentially the same as the 9600X in terms of cores and cache, featuring 6 cores and 12 threads. The main difference lies in its clock speeds, with the base clock reduced from 3.9GHz to 3.8GHz and the boost speed from 5.4GHz to 5.2GHz. While overclocking is still possible, it may not offer as much headroom as the 9600X.
Presently, the release date and official price are unknown, suggesting a forthcoming launch. The Ryzen 9600 stands out as a cost-effective option in the Ryzen 9000 lineup, coming bundled with a Wraith Stealth cooler that can save on additional cooling expenses. Considering the launch price of the Ryzen 9600X, it’s speculated that the Ryzen 9600 could be priced around $229 to $399, possibly lower.
The arrival of the Ryzen 9600 aims to cater to budget-conscious PC builders, coupled with the release of more affordable AM5 motherboards. TechRadar will provide extensive coverage of CES 2025, ensuring readers are updated on the latest advancements across various tech categories.
