Time to go electric? BYD just launched Australia’s first EV under AU$30K

The Australian electric vehicle market is seeing increased accessibility with the Chinese automaker BYD offering their entry-level EV, the BYD Dolphin Essential, below AU$30,000. This variant has trimmed features compared to its predecessor, the Dynamic, aiming for affordability. The BYD Atto 3 Essential, a scaled-back version of the electric SUV, has also been introduced at AU$39,990, making it the most budget-friendly option in its category. These moves are part of a competitive EV pricing war, with various manufacturers adjusting prices to attract more sales.
While the BYD Dolphin Essential competes with popular petrol cars like the Toyota Corolla in terms of pricing, some features have been sacrificed for affordability. Despite limitations like slower charging speeds, it remains a viable option, especially with government incentives for EV financing. Set to be available on January 13, the BYD Dolphin Essential offers an alternative for those considering making the switch to electric vehicles.
