The UK and EU Strengthen Research Collaboration
In a bid to deepen ties and enhance research and innovation projects, the UK has unveiled plans to partner with the EU. The collaboration will focus on various areas, including climate change protection and cancer research, through Horizon Europe, the world’s largest research collaboration program with a budget of nearly €100 billion.
Aiming to attract top scientists worldwide, the UK will launch a nationwide campaign and roadshows to encourage researchers to join Horizon Europe. Notably, the UK joins other non-EU nations like South Korea, New Zealand, and Norway in this groundbreaking initiative. Additionally, the UK will participate in four European Research Infrastructure Consortia to foster high-quality collaborations.
Through these partnerships, the UK anticipates not only benefiting from cutting-edge research outcomes but also establishing fruitful connections with leading researchers globally. UK Science and Technology Secretary, Peter Kyle, emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing critical issues like climate change and public health, aiming to create a platform for innovation and growth for all parties involved.
