The company has issued an apology, clarifying that the error was unintentional. The incident involved a mistaken restoration of a day-old backup over the production database, temporarily affecting forum data. Veeam has acknowledged the mistake and reassured users of their active efforts to address the issue. Unfortunately, it was determined that new comments post-restoration could not be merged with the lost ones, resulting in an unknown number of posts being permanently lost. Despite the mishap, Veeam has maintained transparency by humorously referring to the incident as the ‘best post of the week’ in their forum digest.
