Sucuri, a cybersecurity company, has uncovered a new threat targeting WordPress sites. Cybercriminals are embedding malicious code on WordPress ecommerce websites to steal sensitive payment information from unsuspecting victims. The skimmer script collects credit card numbers, expiration dates, CVV numbers, and billing details during checkout. To protect against this threat, site admins are advised to inspect custom code, especially on checkout pages. Sucuri recommends checking all custom HTML widgets for any suspicious tags and implementing security measures like regular updates and web application firewalls. This emerging trend of credit card skimmers poses a serious risk to online security.
