An increasing number of major automotive manufacturers are adopting Android Automotive for infotainment systems in cars. Google is launching a “car-ready mobile apps program” to bring gaming and streaming apps to vehicles with minimal effort by developers. The program aims to expand app options available in the Google Play store for drivers. Apps undergo evaluation for safety and compatibility with car hardware, with a focus on large-screen suitability. The expansion will enhance the user experience in vehicles with Android Automotive systems. Google also plans to collaborate with OEMs to increase the availability of certified apps in cars by 2025.
