Casio recently confirmed that personal data of 8,500 individuals, primarily employees, was compromised during a ransomware attack in October 2024. The data breach, executed by the Underground ransomware group through a phishing attack, targeted Casio’s IT infrastructure. Majority of the affected individuals were employees, with some business partners and customers also impacted.
Employee data including names, email addresses, personal details, and sensitive information was exposed, while business partners lost names, contact details, and company information. Customers had their delivery details and purchase information leaked. Fortunately, payment details were not compromised. Casio made it clear that they did not engage in negotiations with the hackers or pay any ransom. The victims have been notified, and there is no evidence yet of the leaked data being misused.
