Disney has greenlit a pilot for a TV reboot of Louis Sachar’s ‘Holes’, a popular ’90s novel. This series will have a female protagonist, a new twist on the original story. It is the second adaptation of Sachar’s work, following the successful 2003 movie. The narrative follows a teenage girl sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden makes the campers dig mysterious holes. The show will be produced by Disney, with a team of production giants on board, including writer Anna Mankin, showrunner Liz Phang, and executive producer Drew Goddard. Walden Media will produce the series, while 20th Television is the studio. Although there is no release date yet, the Disney Plus reboot of ‘Holes’ is highly anticipated, promising to bring Sachar’s book to life in a new way.
