Google Chat is making it easy for you to ditch Microsoft Teams

Google has introduced a new feature allowing Google Workspace admins to migrate conversations from Microsoft Teams channels to Google Chat, streamlining the transition process. This enhancement aims to help businesses make a smoother switch to Google Chat with minimal downtime. Admins can easily connect to Microsoft accounts, upload migration and identity maps, specify message migration date ranges, and run delta migrations for new messages in Teams channels. The feature is accessible to all Google Workspace users, although labeled as ‘Beta’ in the interface, and it requires Google super admins and Microsoft Teams Global Administrators to take action. Despite Microsoft resolving complaints about bundling Teams with Microsoft 365, competition and distrust remain. For businesses utilizing multiple platforms, enabling interoperability solutions like Mio may be beneficial.
