Google has launched the Chrome Web Store for Enterprises, providing IT administrators with enhanced control over browser extensions accessed by employees. This new tool allows organizations to create curated lists of approved extensions, reducing the risk of malicious ones. Integrated admin controls display risk scores for extensions, offering visibility into potential risks. The feature uses Google’s security tools for real-time telemetry and risk scoring, alongside third-party platform spin.AI for risk assessments. Benefits include improved control, security, productivity, customizable interface, and transparency. Admins can also remotely remove extensions and expect customer block messages on extension detail pages in upcoming updates. The Chrome Web Store is free for Chrome Enterprise Core and Premium users, with additional customization options available.
