Microsoft reveals another round of job cuts

Microsoft is reportedly undergoing another round of layoffs, affecting less than 1% of its workforce, which previously stood at 228,000 employees. This follows previous layoffs of 10,000 workers in January 2023 and an additional 2,500 in June 2024. The company stated that the layoffs are a part of regular restructuring efforts aimed at maintaining high-performance standards. Despite posting a revenue increase of 12% in the most recent quarter, Microsoft’s share prices have not seen significant growth compared to key rivals like Amazon and Google. Microsoft’s market cap remains the largest among hyperscalers but the impact of the layoffs on specific roles is yet to be disclosed.
