Microsoft Teams is set to enhance security measures by introducing a new phishing alert feature. Hackers have been exploiting external communications to launch malware and ransomware attacks on organizations. A notorious Russian group has been bombarding users with phishing emails, posing as IT support workers to gain remote access and execute malicious activities.
The long-awaited phishing alert function is scheduled to be implemented by Microsoft in mid-February 2025. This feature will prompt users to either accept or block messages from external sources, helping them identify potential phishing attempts. Organizations are advised to educate employees on spotting and reporting suspicious emails, as well as consider disabling external access in the Microsoft Teams Admin Center for added security.
